World Happiness Day March 19th, 2017 – Posted in: Bhutan, Uncategorized
The “International Day of Happiness”, proclaimed by the United Nations, has been celebrated the 20th March since 2013 and was initiated by Bhutan.
The right to happiness is even enshrined in Bhutan’s Constitution. As a tool to measure the well-being of its people, the government does not choose the Gross National Product, but the Gross National Happiness. Thanks to this philosophy, the small Kingdom attracted international attention. Bhutan even convinced the United Nations to deal with the topic of happiness seriously. In 2011, the resolution 65/309 “Happiness: Towards a holistic approach to development” was adopted by the UN General Assembly. Ban Ki-moon, the former UN secretary general, said: “We need a new economic paradigm that recognizes the parity between the three pillars of sustainable development. Social, economic and environmental well-being are indivisible. Together they define gross global happiness. ”
So, how would you celebrate this day now?
Just be happy by making others happy and not just on that special day.
