Awesome Speech to UN General Assembly September 26th, 2017 – Posted in: Bhutan, Uncategorized
On 22 September 2017, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, delivered an impressive speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
In times when national egoism is being propagated and lived in many countries around the world, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay reminded that we can only solve the problems of our world together. With compassion, he recalled the victims of recent catastrophes, the consequences of human-made climate change, the increasing danger of terrorism and the injustices leading to hunger and poverty. While other speakers of the General Assembly loudly focussed on confrontations and their own achievements, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay distinguished himself by soft and wise tones and urged the world community to be more peaceful, more environmentally friendly and more collaborative.
Isn’t it surprising that such a small and economically “insignificant” country like Bhutan has so much to say to the great and powerful nations?
